Pushkar
Pushkar is one of the most ancient cities of India. It is situated on the banks of Pushkar lake. It is also one of the holiest cities of India. Known for its lake, numerous ghats and temples, the city attracts a lot of foreign tourists. It is especially a unique experience to be in Pushkar city during the much talked about Pushkar Fair.Brahma Temple
Although there are many temples in the city, the most famous one is the Brahma Temple. Legend says it that the lake was created by Lord Brahma himself. Brahma Temple of Pushkar is the only Brahma temple in the world. As the name suggests, it is dedicated to Lord Brahma. Experts say that he temple is about 2000 years old and is one of the most popular tourist attractions of the region. It is built in marble and stone slabs.
Talking about the architecture of the temple –it is set on high podium, and has a number of marble steps to enter the temple. The entrance gate archway is decorated with pillared canopies. The red shikhara of the temple symbolizes a swan, which was the vehicle of Lord Brahma.
People from different parts of the country and even the world visit Pushkar to seek blessings of Lord Brahma. Each year during Kartik Poornima (October – November), a big fair is held in Puskar. People from far and wide visit the town to bathe in the holy Puskar lake during this time.
Pushkar city is also referred to as ‘Tirth Raj’ which literally translates to king of pilgrimages. The lake has 52 ghats where pilgrims can descend in the holy water of the lake. Located just 11 km from Ajmer, one can easily reach Pushkar by both public and private transport.
Ajmer
Ajmer also known as Ajaymeru is surrounded by the Aravalli Hills is wrapped around with lush green hills. Once ruled by Prithviraj Chauhan, today Ajmer is a popular pilgrimage destination for both Hindus and Muslims.
Dargah Sharif
The shrine complex has various tombs, buildings and courtyards all constructed in typically Mughal architecture. The main gate of the shrine is called the Nizam Gate. The gate next to Nizam Gate is known as Shah Jahani gate, as it was erected by the mighty Mughal ruler – Shah Jahan. It is followed by Buland Darwaza, upon which the Urs flag is hoisted.
It is a very popular tourist attraction of the region. People from different parts of the country visit the mosque. It is also very popular among the international tourists. In addition to that, a lot of film and TV celebrities have often been spotted at Dargah Sharif.

- Shree Mahavir Swami Temple – Built in 1582 this temple is dedicated to Lord Mahaveer, the 24th tirthankar of Jains.
- Shri Adinath Temple – This is the oldest of all Dilwara temples. It 1031 AD by Vimal Shah and is dedicated to Lord Adinath – the first tirthankar of Jains. The temple has an open courtyard surrounded by corridors all beautifully decorated with marble carved stones. The internal dome is beautifully decorated with floral designs.
- Shri Parshvanath Temple – This temple was built by Mandika clan during 1458-59 AD. It is a three storeyed building and the tallest of the five Dilwara temples. The temple is dedicated to Lord Parshvanath. On all the four faces of the sanctum on the ground floor are four big mandaps. The outer walls of the sanctum comprise beautiful sculptures in gray sandstone.
- Peethalhar Temple – The temple is called ‘peetalhar temple’ because most of the statues are made of brass. This particular temple was built by Bhima Shah, a minister from Gujarat dynasty.
- Luna Vasahi Temple – Luna Vasahi temple was built in and is dedicated to the 22nd saint of Jainism – Shri Nemi Nathji. Therefore, the temple is also referred to as Shri Nemi Nathji temple.

Ranakpur Jain Temple
Ranakpur Jain temple of Rajasthan is one of the five most important temples for Jains. Situated 60 km north of Udaipur, it is a popular tourist attraction and people from different parts of the country visit the temple. Known for its brilliant architecture, Ranakpur Jain temple is also very famous among international tourists. The temple structure is aesthetically carved in amber stone and was constructed way back in 1439 AD. It was built by Seth Dharna Shah, who was a prominent Jain businessman, with the help of Rana Kumbha.The intricate carvings and the magnificence of the structure is the main highlight of the temple. The ceiling is beautifully adorned with geometric patterns and carvings. One of the largest subterranean vaults make the base of this colossal temple sprawling an area of 48000 sq. ft. There are a total of 1444 columns in the temple, each of which has a different carving than the other. In the assembly hall, there are two big bells weighing 108 kg whose sound echoes in the entire complex.

Karni Mata Temple
The most famous temple dedicated to Karni Mata is located in Deshnoke, which is 30 km from Bikaner city in Rajasthan. The temple is a very popular tourist attraction and people from different parts of the state and the country visit the temple to seek Karni Mata’s blessings. The temple is popularly known as ‘temple of rats’. The temple is home to about 20, 000 rats and these holy creatures are referred as ‘kabbas’. Out of the thousands of black rats present, there are some white rats as well in the temple. These white rats are considered very holy. Legend says that sighting a white rat is considered a special blessing. The architecture of the temple is typically Mughal and it is said that the construction of the temple was completed in the early 20th century. The front facade of the temple is made of marble, which has solid silver doors built by Maharaja Ganga Singh. The intricate carvings on the pillars and the walls are a fine example of Mughal artistry.
Shreenathji Nathdwara Temple
Shreenathji Nathdwara temple is located at a distance of 48 km from Udaipur and is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The deity’s idol made out of single block of black marble is placed in the temple. The construction of the temple began in 1864 AD and completed in 1895 AD.It is a double storey structure. The first floor of the temple is popularly known as Swarna Nagari hall. It is estimated that nearly 1000 kg of gold has been used in the construction of this masterpiece temple. The interiors of the temple are decorated with embellishments and marvelous gems. Jagdish Temple - Udaipur
Jagdish Temple of Udaipur is one of the most popular Hindu temples. Originally known as temple of Jagannath Rai, it is a very famous tourist attraction of the city. it is situated in the city palace complex. The temple was built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh and is dedicated to Lord Laxmi Narayan. The idol is carved out of a single piece of black stone. It is built as per Hindu architecture and complies to all Vastu rules. Eklingji Temple
The famous Eklingji temple is located in a small town of Eklingji, which is 22km north of Udaipur. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was built by Bappa Rawal in 734 A.D. The temple is a popular tourist attraction and its main highlight is the magnificent architecture. The double storeyed building, carved towers, pillars and domes and pyramid style roof talk about the grandeur of the structure. The temple houses a unique four faced idol of Lord Shiva made of black marble. The height of the idol is around 50 feet and the four faces of the idol symbolize the four forms of Lord Shiva.In the temple complex the main main temple is a huge pillared hall called the 'mandap'. Also there are two images of Nandi carved in black stone and brass respectively. Another main attraction of the temple is the Shivlinga garlanded by a silver snake. Osian Temple
The ancient city of Osian is reckoned for its architectural temples that date back to the medieval age. These temples which are a proof of the golden bygone era are situated on the verge of the picturesque Thar Desert. Osian city was founded by Utpaladeva, who was the Rajput Prince belonging to Pratihara Dynasty.Located at an approximate distance of about 65 km from Jodhpur, these temples speak volume about the culture and heritage of the region. Ossian city is one of the earliest medieval cities in India.
