Luxury Trains in Rajasthan

The state of Rajasthan is known for its rich heritage, traditions and vivid culture. The warm and affectionate people are reckoned for their hospitality. There are a total of fourteen saloons, each equipped with four twin-bedded chambers. The saloons have attached baths with running hot and cold water and showers.

Each coach has a seating lounge outside the bedrooms. These lounges are a great place for people to get together and chit chat. The train also has 2 premium restaurant cars – Maharaja and Maharani.

Palace on Wheels Journey

The train begins its journey from Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi and takes you to many destinations in Rajasthan. It is a week long journey in which you get a glimpse of the royal past and present of Rajasthan – ‘Land of Kings’. The train leaves every Wednesday night and also includes a trip to Agra and the famous Taj Mahal. These destinations that you would be visiting in Palace of Wheels are –

Virtual Tour

Day 1: 

Board the train from Delhi, the capital of India, where you will be trDelhieated like  Maharaja and Maharani (King and Queen) in the traditional Indian manner by garlands, tika, turban and a glass of wine. The train leaves from Safdarjung after the ceremonial welcome. An introduction will be given and you be escorted to your saloon by personalised staff. Day 2:

JaipurJaipur - The Pink City

Once the train reaches Jaipur, you will visit the Hawa Mahal - a five-storied palace for the royal family and the magnificent Amer Fort, perched on rocky terrain. Day 3:

Sawai Madhopur and Chittorgarh

The Palace on Wheels rolls to a perfect royal destination Sawai Madhopur, a place very close to one of India's finest wildlife sanctuary - Ranthambore National Park. The park is home to several wildlife animals especially the majestic tiger! Chittorgarh Fort is another important place that will leave you enchanted. Do not miss the light and sound show of Chittorgarh Fort that narrates the history of the region to perfection. After sightseeing in Chittorgarh and Ranthambore, get ready to move to Udaipur.

Day 4:

UdaipurUdaipur - Royalty Redifned

The princely state named after Rana Udai Singh, the scenic beauty and charm of the place will leave and indelible mark. Also known as the City of Lakes, Udaipur is also a perfect honeymoon destination. The unique blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture of the forts will leave you spellbound. The Lake Palace and other forts and monuments are a treat to the eyes! Shopping in Udaipur is a must as you can get an array of handicraft items, miniature paintings and mementoes. And yes, before departing departing do not forget to visit the Royal Gardens at Sahelio ki Bari.

Day 5

Jaisalmer - The City with a Golden Fort

After having a hearty breakfast on-board, you will be taken to Jaisalmer and one of Rajasthan's UNESCO Heritage sites, the Jaisalmer Fort. One needs to cross massive gates to enter the grand courtyard. Take a leisurely walk in the 15th century Fort and relish its architecture.Salim Singh ki Haveli, Patwon ki Haveli, and Nathmalji ki Haveli are some of the important havelis that dot the entire city.

Day 6:

JodhpurJodhpur - The Sun City

The second largest city of Rajasthan, Jodhpur was established in 1459 by Rajput king, Rao Jodha. The city looks like a master stroke of a painter with its blue hue covering the entire city. You will be taken to the 16th century Mehrangah Fort which soars 125meters above the town. The Museum inside the Fort has an impressive collection of Royals dresses and weapons. You will be taken for lunch at Hanwant Mahal Boutique Restaurant and depart in the afternoon.

Day 7:

AgraBharatpur Bird Sanctuary and Agra

Next day early morning you will proceed to another famous UNESCO Heritage site, the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. The Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary has more than 300 bird species from Sri Lanka, Tibet, China and Europe. Same day afternoon, the Palace of Wheels will take you to Agra,the city of Taj Mahal. After a visit to the Agra Fort, you will visit the Taj Mahal, the white marble wonder of India, one of the seven wonders of the world.

Day 8

Back to Delhi

The train returns the following day early morning to Delhi.

The train chugs into the second largest city of Rajasthan, Jodhpur which was established in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a Rajput king. Exquisite stone work and lattice windows adorn the city on either side. Witness the royal legacy by visiting Mehrangarh Fort. Palanquins, weapons and musical instruments are still preserved in this majestic fort.


Day 3


UdaipurUdaipur
The next stop of Royal Rajasthan on Wheels is the scenic city, Udaipur, named aftter Rana Udai Singh. The City of Lakes will enthrall all romantic people visiting the city. One of the largest palaces of India, the City Palace is an interesting blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture. The Lake Palace and Jag Mandir are other interesting places not to be missed in Udaipur. Do not forget to take a boat ride on Lake Pichola to visit Jag Mandir Palace.

Chittorgah is another important place that you will visit in this journey.Chittorgarh is renowned to produce some of the greatest Rajput rulers and warriors who fought bravely against the Mughals. A visit to the Chittorgarh Fort is a must which is witness to chivalry and honor.

Day 4

Sawai MadhopurSawai Madhopur

After a glimpse of architectural marvel, experience the beauty of wildlife in Ranthambore National Park, close to Sawai Madhopur. The park is home to various exquisite animals especially the majestic tiger.


Jaipur

Welcome to the pink city of Rajasthan, Jaipur which was built in 1727 by Maharaja, Sawai Jai Singh II. The city is a good place for all shopaholics for fine jewellery and handicrafts. Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal are best tourist attractions of the city.

Day 5

KhajurahoKhajuraho
The capital of the Chandela Kings, Khajuraho is now popular for its magnificent temples built between between 950 A.D. and 1050 A.D. The temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and Jain Tirthankaras are fine examples of Indo-Aryan architecture. Though only 22 remain of the 85 original temples, they are in good condition.

VaranasiDay 6

Varanasi
Varanasi or the oldest city of the world is more than 3000 years old and is one of the most holy places for the Hindus. The Ganga Ghats are considered to be the most scared places by the Hindus.
