Adventure Sports in Rajasthan
The state of Rajasthan is famous for the glory of its brave rulers who gave their lives but did not gave up in front of their enemies. Thus the land of Rajasthan is fortunate to be blessed to give birth to such rulers who are regarded as legends in the tales, whatever act they did, had the flavor of bravery whether it was war or game. The glory of their wars is well recognized, besides this the games they played also required the feeling of courage and bravery. Due to its geographic location Rajasthan is suitable destination for some terrific adventurous sports. Different adventurous and modern sports played in Rajasthan are mentioned below:
Cricket: Cricket and Sports in India have become the synonyms of each other. Whenever the question related with sports is asked from somebody, the first sport, which he likes to speak about it is Cricket. Rajasthan is not an exception to this game, infact the famous Ranji Troply is named after the famous ruler Ranjit Singh of one of the princely state of erstwhile Rajasthan. Moreover Rajasthan has produced some great players who have made remarkable contribution at national level, the major unfortunate point here is that these players could not make any remarkable contribution at the International level. To name few can be remembered who knock the door of Indian team but could not become the regular member of the team.
But the upcoming new format of cricket i.e. twenty-twenty matches had made Rajasthan the proud winner of the first IPL tournament played two years back, this victory has again given the ray of hope for producing some great players in coming years.
Hot-air Ballooning: The most suitable weather condition for hot air ballooning is the dry climate, and there could not be any other better place than Rajasthan to be the most suitable destination for ballooning. The sand dunes in the desert of Rajasthan adds more attraction to ballooning sports.
The major event is organized during the colorful fairs of Puskhar, Nagaur, or Beneshwar where tourists can move to closer places by these balloons.
Trekking and Campaigning: Despite the hilly areas of Himalayas, there are also some other places in India where one can enjoy the pleasure of Trekking. The hills of Mewar region and Mount Abu provide an ideal opportunity to the trekkers to climb. The best season for trekking is winter, however trekking during monsoon can add an excitement to the trekking but it can quite risky too. Trekking can be carried on the already marked tracks or making own way to the hills, which is more exciting.
Campaigning is another feature of adventurous sports in Rajasthan, of which tourists are fond off. Staying in specially designed camps, sitting near to bonfire. The interiors of tents are designed by hand block printings to give them a royal look, the camps are provided with all the facilities inside them.
Water Sports: Though Rajasthan is a desert state, lacking the availability of surplus water, but then also due to appropriate number of lakes the tourists can enjoy the pleasure of this sport also in Rajasthan. Nobody can forget that during the Asian games of 1982, Rajasthan had very proudly and successfully organized the rowing competitions which were held at Ramgarh Lake situated 30 kms away from Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Besides, this the districts of Udaipur and Kota also provide the facility of water sports to the tourists.
Cycling: Cycle which is one of the oldest means of transport is an important event in every major International sports competition. With the changing time the people of Rajasthan are also getting attracted towards this sports.
Shooting: Shooting which once was regarded as the royal game has now become the game of every man. The state of Rajasthan can be proud of giving some of the best shooters to the country in both types of shooting i.e., archery and pistol shooting. In archery the shooters like Limbaram and in pistol shooting shooters like Rayavardhan Singh have raised the name of nation as well as state.
Thus, it can be said that being one of the developing state of India, Rajasthan is also progressing with rapid speed to stay in pace of sports with other states, and soon in coming years players from this state will be raising the name of country as well as state. The environment of state is suitable for every kind of sports.
