Hanumangarh

Introduction:  Separated from the district of Sriganganagar, the district of Hanumangarh came into existence as the 31st district of Rajasthan on July 12, 1994. With an area of 9656.09 sq.km, the district is located at 29° 5' to 30° 6' North    and 74°   3' to 75º 3' east. District is bordered by Haryana state in the east, Sriganganagar district in the west, Punjab state  in  the North  and Churu  district in the South.

History: Recognized as ‘BHATNER’ in the ancient time. BHATNER was captured  by emperor Soorat Singh of Bikaner in the year 1805, when he defeated the Bhatis. As the celebration of victory was held on Tuesday (known as the day of God ‘Hanuman’) the place of dedicated to lord Hanuman and named as Hanumangarh

Hanumangarh had played a magnificent role in the ancient history. The records founded in 1951 revealed  that the area fall under the Indus Valley civilization some 5000 years back. The fossils of humans, stamps, coins, utensils, jewelry, toys, statues, wells, bathroom, fort, streets, markets etc, reveals that the life style of people during that period was well developed. Besides Kalibanga there are more 100 places that witness the presence of this old civilization. The findings of these places are kept in the museums at Kalibanga and National museum at Delhi.

The Bhatner Fort: Located on the bank of river ghaggar the fort is believed to built by Bhupat who was son of Bhati king of Jaisalmer, in the year 295. From the research it is known that the famous battle of Tarain between Mohammed Gauri and Prithiviraj Chauhan was fought in the present area of Talwara Jheel of the district. The fort of Bhatner had also  been under the control of Qutubuddin Aibak, Temur and Akbar. In the words of Temur written in his biography "TUZUK-E-TEYMOORY" stated that he had  never seen such a strongly built and secured fort in Hindustan.

Gurudwara: This historic Gurudwara was constructed in 1730 as the memorable monument on the visit of tenth sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh to the Nohar town of the district.

Despite of this the other famous places are Brahmani Temple, Temple of Mata Bhadrakali, Sila-Mata Temple, Indira Gandhi Main Canal and Shahid Bhagat Singh Chowk.
